Shadow chancellor hits out in wake of Guardian and ITV News investigation showing exploitation of loopholes
The shadow chancellor has accused the government of presiding over housing legislation that is “not fit for purpose” and has thrown his support behind calls for a national registration scheme.
The comments were made in the wake of a Guardian and ITV News investigation that revealed that convicted landlords who have been ruled unfit to rent out their properties are continuing to operate by exploiting loopholes in the law that is supposed to protect the most vulnerable tenants.
